Y!KES Unleash “Lostalgia” EP

After a huge start to 2021, Y!KES have released their long awaited third EP, Lostalgia. The release is an auditory experience like no other, rocketing between vigorous bouts of frenzy through melancholy moments of emotion. Songs like Jukebox Martyr and Long Gone Silver bring vehement, explosive guitar riffs alongside undeniably memorable vocal hooks, whilst songs such as General Practice and I’m Not Joking showcase that Y!KES can just as easily handle the more sombre, brooding emotions often found in their grunge roots. Each song seamlessly connects, the band able to ebb and flow through moods of raucous euphoria to poignant reflection without batting an eyelid, creating truly an emotional journey that will keep you coming back for more.

“’Every one of the records has had a strong visual and musical concept. Our debut, EP!C, rooted in horror, whilst MASS!VE was sci-fi inspired. ‘Lostalgia’ follows this pattern, but on a level more grounded in reality as it resides within a dystopia. ‘Lostalgia’ itself is a place that would make the world of 1984 look like Disneyland. It is a record we struggled to make, accompanied by videos we struggled to film at a time when the world insisted everyone stay apart. 7 tracks of gritty, hard hitting, adrenaline-infused volume that soundtrack the world of Lostalgia. It’s a semi-conceptual record…a ‘con’ record. Not because we went half way with it and couldn’t be bothered to flesh it out, like so many semi-conceptual records before have fell into the trap of.
