The New Catastrophes “Weather The Storm” On New Album
San Jose, CA's The New Catastrophes have released their new album, Weather The Storm, via streaming platforms, as a free…
Dirt Mall - Roach Industries/Plasterer
3 Months into 2020 and already a wave of new albums have been filtering out into a world of keen listeners eager to find that something special, so what about Aerial Salads brand new offering “Dirt Mall” their second after the 2017 release of “Roach”
Well what about this new slice of raw punk, it’s not often you get the chance to hear something that has you feeling like your a teenager again and you have just discovered the meaning of real music, this is not to say its gonna change your life like the first time you heard Bowie play Ziggy Stardust or The Sex Pistols play Anarchy In The Uk live, but and lets be honest about this, Dirt Mall is raw punk or basic garage band chords played in the same vein as possibly 80% of bands in this very crowded genre at the moment.
But and there is a massive but here, they somehow knit this all together with a vocal style and DIY get up there and say what you wanna say, sing about what the hell you wanna sing about, have fun and be real!
So yeah this album has all the gritty reality of being young growing up and everything that comes with this.
The trio of Jamie, Matt and Mike on this album, have captured what it means to be out there in the big bad world of DIY punk, songs that are not too busy righting the wrongs of the world but instead, simply shouting about how shit it is to be living in this harsh world, so this bunch of kinda now grown up (or maybe only a little) reprobates, have written songs like “Such A Pity” that seems to have a feel of, what a waste being an ass really can be, or the title track “Dirt Mall” which encapsulates the whole album, 3 lads taking on life and what it throws at you.
By the end of this 9 track album, your so happy that it hit your player (which ever format you use) that when it
ended, my personal comment was “fuck its only an EP” then realised it actually was 9 songs and was that good it just felt like only 3! Too short is the only negative that this reviewer can throw at it.
Melodic punk played with passion and energy that takes you right back to how punk should always be played!
Life changing? Maybe not. Best album of the year so far? Definitely!
The album will be available in two vinyl formats, 200 copies in dark blue and 300 in traditional black. Each copy will come with a CD copy for your digital pleasure.
