Exiled - One Little Indian Records
Stevenage, UK anarcho punks Bad Breeding are set to release their new album, Exiled, via One Little Indian Records on June 21st, the album was recorded in a frantic week with Uniform‘s Ben Greenberg, the result of this collaboration between two of punk’s most outspoken outfits is a furious soundclash of an album. With their new full length Bad Breeding are set to ignite the fuse on an album that is unfiltered, incisive, relentless and justifiably furious. Exiled is an album that aims to articulate the grievances of those who bear the brunt of the current political regime’s policies and confronts the corruption and hypocrisy that is inherent in modern politics.
Exiled is an album that has been fuelled by the dire state oil UK politics over the last few years, something that should have caused discontent at the very least in anyone who has lived in the wake of Brexit, something that has seen the rise of the far right, a huge increase in homelessness, punitive measures imposed on the most vulnerable sections of society and the ever present spectre of police brutality, this isn’t an exhaustive list of the issues present in the UK but it gives you an idea of the scope of Exiled. Bad Breeding have released the most coherent political statement I’ve heard this year, the focus is constant and the understandable rage runs throughout the album with only the brief Interlude providing any respite.
if you take the attitude and political focus of Crass and combine with a healthy dose of hardcore rage and add the intensity of noise rock then you’re about there, this is a soundtrack that is a combination of intense anarcho and hardcore punk that at times borders on early grindcore, Exiled is an album that channels Bad Breeding‘s own frustrations and anger, but the principles of working class solidarity, socialism and direct action that fuel the album are universal and are delivered on a relentless tidal wave that signifies that resistance to the current status quo is alive and well. Bad Breeding have released twelve tracks of coherent, eloquent and focused rage that makes Exiled the perfect soundtrack for those on the front line.
