Failed Entertainment - Run For Cover Records
Californian hardcore band Fury are now set to release their sophomore album, Failed Entertainment, on the 3rd May 2019 via Run For Cover Records, their first release since signing to the label last year. Failed Entertainment is an album that documents the highs and lows the band have experienced, both personally and professionally, since the release of their debut full length three long years ago. Paramount was a brutal album of hardcore punk and the press release raises questions as to whether they have stayed true to their roots, or whether Fury have adopted an almost introspective approach and attitude, something that saw Hundredth adopt a completely different approach to their previous releases.
Fans of Fury‘s debut album, Paramount, should not be worried, whilst the band have embraced a new direction lyrically the album does stay true to it’s hardcore roots, albeit with a slicker approach and production that at times almost borders on melodic hardcore, almost. Tracks like America are as brutal as anything they’ve previously released and aside from the somewhat incongruous brief confessional spoken word track, New Year’s Eve (Melbourne), this is in every bit as intense as its predecessor. Failed Entertainment is eleven tracks of cathartic hardcore, it must be said that when compared to their debut full length musically this is a much more accessible album, it has a less dense and claustrophobic feel than Fury‘s previous releases, but in every other sense this is a logical, if not somewhat unsurprising, release to follow on in the footsteps of their debut full length.
Failed Entertainment will be released via Run For Cover Records on two coloured vinyl variants, CD, cassette and digital formats on the 3rd may 2019 and is now available for pre-order from Run For Cover Records here and via Fury‘s Bandcamp here
