Post Season - Know Hope Records
Originating in 2012 in Altoona, PA, Post Season burst onto the scene with 2013’s Restless Nights EP, the band followed that up with their debut LP, Remember, later that year. Over the following years Post Season have toured relentlessly and have released three more EP’s, they are now set to release their second self titled full length on Friday 13th July via Know Hope Records. The album was produced and engineered by Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, Senses Fail, The Dangerous Summer, Have Mercy) and displays a new level of maturity, one that reflects the ongoing struggle of growing older and chasing your passions while facing the realities of everyday life.
Long Shot Lost Cause kicks things off in fine style, this is pop punk as it oughta be, there’s enough drive and energy to keep one foot firmly in the punk world, but it’s poppy enough to keep them accessible and give a touch of mainstream appeal. The second track, Numb To This, dips it’s toe deeper into the pop punk pool, from this point on this is an album that ticks pretty much every box in the pop punk handbook, thankfully with the exception of having a poignant acoustic track sitting somewhere in it’s grooves, but what raises Post Season above many of their contemporaries is that they do pop punk really really well
Post Season‘s latest release is a blast of infectious choruses, razor sharp riffs, breakdowns and enough hooks to keep any self respecting pop punker happy, there are no surprises whatsoever on Post Season‘s sophomore full length but they manage to avoid being pop punk by numbers. There’s enough of an edge to Post Season‘s latest album to make this an release that has appeal to fans of both of melodic punk and pop punk, the end result is an album that indicates that whilst Post Season might be getting older they aren’t quite ready to give up on their dreams just yet.
