Revenge Of The Psychotronic Man

That Was Just A Noise - TNS Records

After over 500 gigs over 14 years Revenge of the Psychotronic Man have sadly decided to call it a day, to mark their passing the band have released That Was Just A Noise, a 27 track album that features tracks from all three of their studio albums as well as a bunch of rarities and a couple of previously unreleased tunes that have been thrown in for good measure. Sometimes your impression of a band is influenced by experiencing that band live, and having recently witnessed Revenge Of The Psychotronic Man steal the show at the Strummercamp Festival last month with an absolutely stunning set, this is very much the case with That Was Just A Noise.

Revenge Of The Psychotronic Man‘s fourth and final full length is a fitting epitaph for the band that gives you an overview of the band’s fourteen years together. For the most part this is pure frantic thrash punk, but it breaks out into ska on I Know A Cracking Owl Sanctuary, there are brief bursts of hardcore and punk rock, as well as a few unexpected remixes, that gives a snapshot of the the history of a band that will leave a void in the UK’s DIY scene after their final show this December.

There is no way that Revenge Of The Psychotronic Man can possibly capture the chaos of their live shows on record, but with their final album they have produced a fitting final chapter to mark the bands existence. Revenge Of The Psychotronic Man aren’t gone just yet, and on the strength of their final album, and their recent performance at Strummercamp, you need to catch them live before they become a noisy memory at the end of the year.
