I Want To Live In Outer Space - Campary Records
Having already been released on CD and digitally at the end of February, The Ramonas are now issuing their 2nd album ‘I Want To Live In Outer Space’ on a limited vinyl run; it becomes available from 6th April through Campary Records. The band, at first more widely known as the world’s most popular female tribute to iconic punk pioneers The Ramones, bound into the originals world in 2016 gaining success with their prior 3 releases; ‘You Asked For It (EP)’, ‘First World Problems’ and ‘Acoustic Problems’ which showcases unplugged versions of select songs from ‘First World Problems’ and ‘I Want To Live In Outer Space.’
The follow up to 2017’s ‘First World Problems’ sees the band move even further away from their “Ramones tribute act” persona to branch out both musically and lyrically. ‘I Want To Live In Outer Space’ progresses from the first album. Although having fewer tracks than its predecessor, it showcases a broader diversity of genres, with influences from anywhere between Celtic Punk and Hardcore. The album still holds onto The Ramonas already established sound whilst doing so, blending raw, hard punk riffs with melodic and catchy vocal/guitar lines.
Everything is tightly structured, as you’d expect with 8 tracks in 20 minutes, with each song also being allowed to expand on some facet of genre – see the radio-friendly acoustic jangle of ‘Take Me Home’, or the veiled surf vibes of ‘Wasted’ – Generally though, the foundation of choppy barre chords, brisk drumming and stable bass is present; with the vocals moving between sugary harmonies and punky sneer..with requisite ‘woah-ohs’, of course.
Lyrically, The Ramonas tackle contemporary issues such as poverty (‘Broke’) and prejudice in modern day society (‘So called this. So called that’), while the title track highlights the impact of global warming and closer ‘Camp Cruel’ rallies against animal testing.

Like socio-political attitude delivered via buzzsaw guitars and pop harmonies? ‘I Want To Live In Outer Space’ is available through Plastic Bomb.
