Album Review: Those Fucking Snowflakes – Everything Is Absolutely FKKKKKD

Think Idles but with a less commercial sense of being, then you might be somewhere near what Those Fucking Snowflakes are about.  Giving that they are from Blackpool, with its fill of stag/hen do’s that somehow stagger their way around families on their way to the fun fair, a sea front that smells of candy floss, fish and chips and the endless noise of bingo filled amusements, then its no real surprise that anger can be felt dripping from every corner of their music, but not an anger aimed at these hapless fun seeking misled souls, more at the establishment that pushes people to feel the need to escape into a world of false pleasure.

This of course is only my opinion, the band might see it all too differently, and what the hell does any of this have to do with the newest EP release ‘Everything Is Absolutely FKKKKKKD’ which is out on 22nd January Via Louder Than War Records, well everything! I guess, the world is fucked and escapism is sometimes the only way to deal with it, but not for Those Fucking Snowflakes, they are much happier thrashing out tunes like ‘Uncooperative Crusties’ an assault on the senses, an attack on the pillage of a world that has never seen such destruction in its history as it does now, ‘Due Some Terrible End’ a very very slightly less ear thrashing musically, although still non the less powerful, a lyrical content that covers intolerance, fascism and inequality, in a, we need deal with it! sense of importance, and not to rest on their laurels, the attack continuous in the form of ‘White Isn’t Right’, quite self explanatory I’d say, and if you don’t know how to take this title, well your probably on the wrong side of right. 

Musically throughout the EP, nothing is set in stone, a very fluid sound that takes on many guises, from heavy hardcore leanings, to melodic riff led sections that stop this from becoming a barrage that has you reaching for the off switch, a motion that can all to often result in the message being lost, not here though, your always waiting with baited breath for what might come next!  

This brings us to the stand out track for myself, musically and vocally, a song that takes on the shale gas industry, not to be confused with Cuadrilla a matadors team, although this does sum things up in a strange way, how a stunningly beautiful creature is attacked, abused and ultimately killed by a cowardly glory seeking cunt, for the pleasure of the crowd, ‘Caudrilla’ being the Matadors team, killing the earth at the instruction of the ‘Cunt’.

Explosive, raw, powerful, kind hearted music that spells out the future of music, for the future and inevitable ousting of all that is wrong in the world.
