World War Zero - Self Released
Wasted Life are an impressive UK hardcore quartet from the Midlands, they’ve been doing things on the own terms since their inception almost ten years ago, in that time they’ve previously unleashed three recordings via Dirty Old Man Records, STP Records and Punkerama Records. Last December saw the band self release their fourth release, and third full length, World War Zero, that follows on from Weapons Of Self Destruction, an album that was released five long years ago.
From the brutal opener of Forever Young you know that you’re in for a album that won’t pull it’s punches, Wasted Life‘s latest takes it’s lead from old school punk but adds hardcore muscle into the mix to create an album that is a relentless defiant rallying call. My personal favourite from the album, Do What U Wanna Do, brings a punk rock element into the mix, but otherwise this is an album that takes a more brutal approach, it’s one that makes Wasted Life‘s latest release an impressive album that rages at the world in general before finally focusing it’s ire upon the current incumbent of The Whitehouse.
Having recently caught Wasted Life deliver an impressive live set, with a live review to follow shortly, it only seems right to spread the word about this impressive hardcore outfit. Their latest album captures the energy of the live performance perfectly and if you’re a fan of the likes of fellow veterans of the UK hardcore scene such as Criminal Mind or The Restarts then you need to catch Wasted Life. Until they’re playing somewhere near you, and it probably won’t be a long wait given their touring schedule, World War Zero will keep you going as it’s one of those rare albums that captures the essence of the band perfectly.
