Summer Soon - Spaghetti Town Records
Bambies finally get round to the release of their debut album ‘Summer Soon’, it came out on 20th August via Spaghetti Town Records, after weathering the storm that was 2020 and seeing off the pandemic season, now is the time for “Summer” to actually be a thing.

The Quebec based trio, who have roots in so many cultures, from French to Canadian and Costa Rican, are by default gonna be a spicy mix of styles and ideas and this is exactly what we get from their music, a sense of bringing the best from all corners of the punk sound and adding their own take on it.
Summer Soon sets off like a Cyanide Pills album, fast furious and fun, ‘Dirty Taint’ has that bouncy cheeky punk element to it, add a fuzzy guitar sound and catchy riffs and you’re off!, title track ‘Summer Soon’ drops in early on, the quirky catchy melodies seem to be a theme hear, kinda like you just walked into a late 70’s London club full of those not so serious punks, you know the ones like Toy Dolls or even Jilted John. Yet this is not just pop, its got all the energy of punk and drags you along like a fresh teenager who has just found music that never takes itself too seriously, music that still has The Lurkers style of Rock N Roll deep at the heart of it, ‘Party’ being an example of this, ‘Tear Off My Face’ also grabs you by the bollocks, spins you round and spits you out, default melodies built in, but punk attitude abounds too.
Coming crashing in mid way through, is the stand out ‘Stuck With You’ simplicity is the key here, a pure 70’s pop punk classic sound dragged right up to date, reminds me of those nights kicking around the youth club punk night, getting drunk with mates and even having the fit girls dancing along too.
What you’re not gonna get with this album bored, not stop The Dickies on acid might be a fitting analogy, but then that’s how my brain works, so win win.
Twelve songs blasted through in what feels like a Descendents set list of a whirlwind, so much so that when the bass line of ‘Moonies’ hits you, your just finishing your first can of lager/beer, what a way to go out though!
Oh well you know what that means then? Yep crack open another can beer and hit repeat.
No surprises here, punk old school, played like it should be, OMG! Wish I was still a 15yo…..
