Ghosts Among The Pines Drop New Single & Video “Holding On”
Alabama's Ghosts Among The Pines have revealed Holding On, the track is the lead single and video from the band’s…
Between The Buried and Me - Victory Records
This cd is made up of entirely cover songs, so even though I don’t really like the band, their covers weren’t that bad. The vocalist is actually pretty talented, he seems to be able to sound like several various singers, ranging from Freddie Mercury(they cover Bicycle by Queen) to a failed attempt at imitating Karl Buechner. Nobody imitates Earth Crisis! Instrumentally, the band is great, I’ve only listened to a few songs by them, but from what I’ve heard they seem to be able to play just about anything. I just don’t like all the hype this band gets, but what do you expect from a major Victory Records band? I guess this cd was meant to reflect their musical influences and probably because covering songs is fun. I just didn’t like some of the songs they chose to cover, so chances are I’m not going to like them when another band does them and ends up sounding the same. But anyways, there’s probably nothing on here you haven’t really heard before, except it was by the original band. For the most part, Between The Buried and Medon’t throw in much of their own flair, but there’s a few songs where they use their own unique scream. I’m sure fans of this band will be able to appreciate this album. As far as cover cd’s go, my favorite is still Writers Block by Evergreen Terrace, but I digress.
I’m sure my opinion about this cd won’t sway the masses that listen to this band(it’s why I tried to stay fairly neutral). But I think that getting this would probably be a waste of money, namely because they’re coming out with a new album pretty soon, or that is at least what I think I learned from reading dozens of Victory Records banners that were flashing left and right on my computer screen and molesting my eyes. Maybe they’re just re-releasing an old one and saying it’s new-ish to trick any fans of the artists they have signed, and make even more money. I don’t know, I don’t work there, but it sounds like something they would/have done.
