The Dollyrots Release Annual Festive Single
The Dollyrots have released their annual song for the Holidays, this time they've cut a New Year's anthem, a spankin'…
2,4,6,8...We're The Kids You Love To Hate - BYO Records
2,4,6,8, who do we appreciate?!?!
Well, obviouslyClit 45 doesn’t think most people appreciate them, but that they are rather “the kids you love to hate“. But of course, even with that cynicism, they know that there’s still an ever growing fan base for the LA based band – and that’s why they decided to release this album. None of the songs are new, instead they are newly recorded versions of the band’s first material. Material that is long out of print or incredibly hard to find. All those songs are compiled in one nice, compact, punk rock onslaught that any Clit 45 fan will love.
2,4,6,8… We’re The Kids You Love To Hate is 14 angst-filled, street punk anthems. Their quick, fist pumping, street punk songs in the vein of old school bands like The Unseen, The Germs and even The Casualties to some extent. There’s no frills or gimmicks, just solid punk rock song after punk rock song with strong vocals that are literally spat at you. Then when the gang vocals come in, telling you to fight back against oppression, questioning freedom, never giving up, insulting school and doing whatever the hell you want to do with your life, you can feel the energy and excitement in the inner depths of the song.
The songs are short, with the longest one clocking in at a mere 2:43; but that adds to the entire persona of the album. It makes it so that as soon as one song ends, another begins, making it impossible to sit and rest. The only downside to that is that, at times, the songs do tend to blend in to each other as there’s nothing that really differentiates them from one another – but nevertheless, 2,4,6,8… We’re The Kids You Love To Hate is a very entertaining album and any fan of the old punk sound will instantly fall in love with it.
