Dead Poetic

New Medicines - Solid State Records

The “Sophomore Slump”. A condition every band has to face at one point or another in their career. For some it destroys their career, sending them spiraling down to earth and stopping them dead in their tracks, while others are able to battle through and preserver; even use it to their advantage to push their career to new heights. Dead Poetic‘s New Medicines falls into the latter of the two categories.

With a new guitarist and two years of touring under their belts, Dead Poetic have matured and grown into amazing musicians. Combining heavy guitar hooks with exciting bass riffs all topped off with ear-catching vocals; Dead Poetic creates a sound which automatically grabs your attention and doesn’t let go until the CD is done. Even then you find yourself reaching for more. Adding a little extra punch to the mix is the screaming vocals, always entering at the exact right moment and never becoming overwhelming; even to someone like me who dislikes most screamo bands.

To classify the band would be pretty much impossible. They could be placed under “hardcore” because of they heavy beats and powerful vocals. Maybe even “screamo” for their screaming vocals. Maybe even a touch of “emo” is in them like that of Silverstein. Maybe just good old-fashion rock and roll. What ever it is you like, you’ll find part of it in New Medicines, the latest efforts from Solid State Records artistDead Poetic.
