End Of Pipe

Mass Hysteria - Takeover Records/Tent City Records

This is End Of Pipe’s 4th studio album since they appeared on the scene back in 2006, based in Florianópolis Brazil, the three piece are Uirá Medeiros – Guitar / Vocal, Rafael Censi – Bass and Victor Berretta- Drums.

Mass Hysteria comes out at a time when Brazil and of course the rest of the world, have so many problems to solve, a time of unprecedented challenges, a turning point for the planet and a time for the voices of the people to be strong and heard. This latest album feels so much heavier in message and sound than their previous offerings, an almost tribute to iconic record labels such as Fat Wreck Chords and Eitaph that have hosted some top bands in the genre and yet this is also a stand up on its own album.

Having drafted in some of the top names from an era of great music to embellish the songs with a whole raft of styles, this is a ride your gonna wanna get on!

‘Mass Hysteria’ the title track sets us off into the bowls of a beast of an album, it throws the gauntlet down for all to follow, featuring Felix (Hardlife/Mallet) it borders on Cro-Mags ferocity of delivery, but with a Californian feel deeply embedded within the South American edginess.  ’80 Shots’ drops in next, an altogether softer feel, without losing any of the power that comes from the back line which in turn is drenched in huge riffs from a sick guitar sound, Emillie Plamondon from 50 Shades of Punk Rock features here.

Filled with songs that take on social and economic injustice, personal challenges and of course the love of family and friendship that comes from the Punk Rock community, this all leads to songs that feel lived in and personal.  With titles like ‘Running Away’ ‘Choose Your Family’ and ‘Chance For The World’ this is never gonna be an album of love songs without substance, far from it, this is an album filled with anthems and deeply personal insights, ‘Lost Cause’ stands out amongst the crowd as the beast within, a call to all the infected minds of the world to surrender their divisive ideals.  Second from last is what is the most melodic and maybe softer of the tracks ‘Call My Name’ will feed your need for head nodding, whilst final song ‘Memories’ will quench your thirst for the dramatic and powerful!

All in all this album delivers a power fest of sound and emotion.
