EP Review: Max Motherfucker – Max Motherfucker

So this is not Christmas!

A spin off project from the band Christmas or just an indulgence in something different?   I’d like to call it an outlet for something that needs to be let out of the box, something that might not have fitted with the Christmas setting or just a need to play outside the constraint of a band that has already set its course.

What do we get then?,  two tracks of Rock N Roll is the answer.

Being released on vinyl, limited to 100 copies that has both tracks on one side and the cover only being half made by the printers and the rest being added to by the band.

‘Natural Things’ Is the first up and sliding around my ears and into my conscious, its a full on guitar frenzy of a rock song with a vocal that still hangs on gingerly to the punk that Max is renowned for, what is very evident, is the need to try something different and pull it of with such amazing ease.  If you thought you were gonna get a Christmas spin off, then you should have kept flicking on to the next punk album, this is altogether a much more melodic and yes commercial sounding slice of music to show Max’s creative energy, but don’t be thinking this is anything other than great Rock n Roll, especially when you get ‘Are We Alive’ bouncing wonderfully around in your head, a song full of all the hooks and melody that you will be singing along for hours, a song that asks the question that we all need to consider at times.

Two songs that should be on everyones playlist when they drop on Dec 11th.
