The Lotts

We Are The Lotts - Whispering Pines

A five track EP from The Lotts, a band born as recently as 2018 and who have been making a name for themselves on the live scene, well actually more of a creation of a chattering around the venues that talks of wild nights with fast loud and above all else, exciting music.

‘We Are The Lotts’ was revealed to the musical world on 24th July via Whispering Pine Records, five tracks that musically show of the bands musical energy and have all the live feel throughout, dropping in at the title track you are immediately struck by the ‘Hives’ Sound and the same use of choppy guitar riffs that are backed up by some snappy drum beats and a bass that just blends away at the spine of the songs.

Following on is ‘I Don’t’ which has a similar sound but as track one, you are left wondering whether the lyrical content has maybe been an after thought, this when played live could be easily lost in the moment, but is noticeably lacking here, as if the music and overall sound is more important than the depth of song.

‘Dumb’ being third song in, hits the mark wonderfully though, lack of lyrical content doesn’t really matter here, its a stand out and you can so imagine, being in the thick of a mosh pit that bounces along with pure frenetic energy to the whole 120 second’s of this piece of pure Rock n Roll.

Getting to the end of this EP in lightening fast time, your left wondering about the direction the band might be heading in the future, ‘Preacher Man’ and ‘Mouth’ have such an odd feel to previous tracks, the first being a strange mix of earlier tracks and some a psychedelic meandering of indecipherable vocal content, the second being slow and almost conceptual in feel, that leaves you wondering if you may of skipped to another album by mistake.

After 5 pieces of eclectic sounds, your left with two thoughts, being that live these guys will be a must, but  recorded, there are so many ups and downs along the way.
