Get The Fuck Outta Dodge

These Songs Still Aren't Ours - Self Released

We are not social media giants, so we will still call them Get The Fuck Outta Dodge and be happy doing it.  This band are the epitomy of DIY punk, a two piece Bass and Drum (not that dance shit) set up that drags you kicking and screaming out of the world of conformity, playing with all the noise turned up to full and a passion for not giving a F (oops sorry we are not the media Police) so lets try this again, a passion for not giving a fuck!

Having already released a covers album ‘These Songs Aren’t Ours’ and the sophomore full length of their own that was ‘Buzz Kill’ in 2020, they have now taken all that pent up energy and cracked open another can of worms in ‘These Songs Still Aren’t Ours’, 22 covers that range from Dwarves to Meghan Trainor and everything in-between.

If your not normally a fan of covers albums, please take the time to give this a listen, its not your usual “lets take someone else’s songs and try and do them better or simply the same”, these are totally GTFOD, thumped out at blazing speed, smashed around the room and a whilst doing this, recording!

I mean you just need to get your ears around some of the off the wall numbers like ‘Checkin It Out’ (Lil Chris) a fun foot tapper played like it never has been before, ‘Me Too’ (Meghan Trainor) with what is essentially a punk lyric if ever you heard one, given the punk makeover, ‘Much Against Everyones Advice’ (Soulwax) total off beat wonderfulness here.

What is absolutely apparent is the total disregard for trying to be cool that’s going on here, its a fest of music that has everything you need, songs that have been given a new life, and it actually doesn’t matter who the original was by, these can stand alone and be enjoyed.

Stand outs though, have to be ‘Deceptacon’ (Le Tigre), ‘I Will Deny’ (Dwarves) (the vocal on the whole album, would not be out of place on a Dwarves album btw)both poles apart, but sit perfectly together on this album, oh and then there is the sublime ‘Waiting Room’ (Fugazi) a classic that’s given no quarter, it screeches and squeals along like the true heavyweight contender it is.

Don’t judge, don’t go in with any preconceptions, come out the other side having just enjoyed it for what it is, a true DIY band doing their own way!  So go and Fucking ‘Party Hard’

This will be available in an Ultra Limited edition Cassette, with a handmade Lino printed cover.
