Revolution: I Think It's Called Inspiration - A-F Records

I have no musical talent whatsoever. I couldn’t hit a chord if my life depending on it, and give me a guitar and I’ll make you wish you hadn’t. But I’m sure that if I ever got off my lazy ass to actually learn how to play and if I started a band, I know I would want it to sound like Inquisition. Because it’s plain to me that Revolution: I Think Its Called Inspiration is exactly what music should sound like.

You see, before Thomas Barnett was fronting Strike Anywhere, before Rob joined Ann Beretta and before Mark was in River City High they were in a band called Inquisition, and while the band was short lived, their reputation and influence is not. So A-F Records are picking up on their feeling, and taking their hard to find album, Revolution: I Think Its Called Inspiration, and re-releasing it. So now, new music fans can find it and realize why bands like Hot Water Music, Anti-Flag, Dashboard COnfessional and Suicide Machines are around – and then of course, be motivated to keep bringing this kind of rock to the world.

The fourteen track album has everything, and I mean everything. There’s the blood boiling energy that gets your fist pumping and your feet stomping. The dark desperation is the harsh, worn out vocals of Barnett. The deep, moving, political lyrics. The sing-along chorus and the right amount of hand clapping in the background. It is in your face. It is raw, and they aren’t holding anything back. Hell, they even have the every necessary acoustic song on here, but even with the addition of the harmonica you still feel the simple raw power behind the song.

There’s not a lot to say about Revolution: I Think Its Called Inspiration, other than the fact that you need to have it in your collection. It’s like what Avail‘s Tim Barry said, “A band like Inquisition made a dent in the underground punk community in their heyday, when they should have been a full blown car crash.” Now with the re-release, the band is ready to make that crash a reality.
