Live At The Phoenix Greyhound Park (The Show Must Go Off) [DVD] - Kung Fu Records

Kung Fu Records has recently been releasing live performances onto the world through “The Show Must Go Off” series. The fifth installment in this series is a unusual one at best. It is no live punk rock show, it is instead a stand up comedian by the name of Neil Hamburger doing his set at the Phoenix Greyhound Park.

Being a fan of stand up comedy, I was looking forward to seeing this. But it didn’t come close to my expectations. It was, in fact, worse then I could’ve ever imagined. He walks onto the stage with three drinks cramped between his arm and chest wearing a fancy suit and big glasses giving an incredibly annoying fake cough every couple of minutes. Almost all of his material was of the question and punch-line genre, like “Why did God invent Britney Spears?”. His finale was even worse, he asked people to give movie titles and he would somehow relate it to the word “Shit”, anyone could come up with “Shitfinger” or “Shit T: The Extraterrestrial”.  Even the crowd was unimpressed with his performance, it was completely quiet excluding a few people who laughed. After the performance Kung Fu went around asking the crowd what they thought, 3 out of the 5 people said it sucked and hope that he never comes back.

Kung Fu Records made a horrible choice by displaying Neil Hamburger in this series. The show really does need to go off for him.
