Nerf Herder

My EP - Honest Don's Records

Nerf Herder is a name which doesn’t ring a bell to most people. “Just another nerd-core punk rock band I’ve never heard off” is what they say. But in reality almost everyone has heard of these former Arista Records’ artists, because they were the lucky ones selected to write and perform the theme song for the hit television series, “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”. Honest Don’s Records has taken the opportunity to re-release the band’s EP “My E.P” with 3 additional songs added onto it.

After a pretty good track, “Hotel California”,  Nerf Herder goes into two tracks which are extremely disappointing compared to the rest of the album. The guitar and drum work seems to be really flat in “Love Sandwich” and “High School”, creating a sound which is less then energetic. Vocals also seem to be somewhat monotone in the two tracks. After those two tracks they pick it up a bit with much more energetic music. The vocals are more evident then the musical melodies for the most part, but still have a sound which gets you excited. The bass riffs are catchy with steady drum rolls in the back all topped off with guitar hooks and catchy immature lyrics. Songs like “Fight For Your Right To Masturbate” and “I’ve Got A Boner For X-Mas” are tracks which you will be able to return to anytime for a nice little laugh.

Overall, despite a few dips at the beginning of the EP, “My E.P” is a EP which will not become a classic, but one which is truly enjoyable.
