Not On Tour

Outtakes - SBÄM Records

Israeli punks Not On Tour formed in 2008, the band’s name was originally a joke as they intended to play shows during the summer and entertain all the left-behind punks in Tel Aviv who were also “not on tour”, thirteen years later they are still here, although the their chosen moniker became sadly prophetic for much of 2020 and 2021. Not On Tour released their last full length, Growing Pains, in 2019 and now they are set to releases their latest EP, Outtakes, on the 3rd September on two coloured vinyl variants, red and yellow, via SBÄM Records. Unsurprisingly the EP is a companion to their last full length and features three previously tracks that did not appear on Growing Pains.

Not On Tour have regularly supported many bands from the Fat Wreck Chords, Hellcat Records and SBÄM Records stables, this hints at who this EP will appeal to. Not On Tour deliver pure undiluted melodic punk rock that takes on life’s challenges and joys. Desperation Street kicks off the Outtakes EP in blast of high energy epifat inspired punk rock and it is swiftly followed by the eccentric GMSN and the hard hitting What Future? The whole package is over in heart beat with all three tracks delivered in a shade under four and a half near perfect minutes.

This is not your run of the mill collection of outtakes and rejected tracks that is directed purely at the die hard fan, this feels like a fresh EP recorded for the post lockdown world ready for Not On Tour to to be back on tour. As a result one question lingers after you’ve spun the three tracks contained on this lurid slab of wax, how the hell were these three songs considered outtakes? Pick up a copy of Outtakes and then grab yourself a copy of Growing Pains to keep it company.
