Walk Left / Stand Right - Thousand Islands Records
Toronto melodic skate punk outfit Family Meeting recently made the sad and unexpected announcement that they were calling it quits, but they’re not leaving us until they release their swan song in the shape of their final EP, Walk Left / Stand Right, that was released today via Thousand Islands Records. Walk Left / Stand Right is now available through all digital retailers and serves as a follow up to Family Meeting‘s debut EP, No One Cares ‘Til You’re Dead, and the end of Family Meeting.
Walk Left / Stand Right kicks in with the EP’s title track, an anthemic blast of melodic punk rock that was Family Meeting‘s signature, the EP’s lead single, Four Months Of Rain, continues the breakneck punk rock, dual guitars are matched with driving bass lines that underpin the clean gang vocals. The final ever track you’ll here from Family Meeting is No Honour Amongst Steves, a song that ensures that Family Meeting aren’t bowing out with a whimper, their final song is everything that made Family Meeting such a promising outfit, and it makes their passing into punk history a story of unfulfilled potential.
It’s been a short lifespan for FamilyMeeting, they’ve only been on the scene for just under three years, in that time they have delivered two impressive EP’s and made countless friends on the road. Saying goodbye is never an easy thing but with Walk Left / Stand Right the band have released a fine finale to remember them by, and as the refrain of Four Months Of Rain goes, the music will go on.
