Gang

Dead - Ra-Ra Rok Records

Gang are the Tormey brothers, Eric and Jimi, who, along with their adopted sibling Joseph Hunt, make up this dark twisted trio. They unleashed their macabre new double a side single, Dead and Enough Nothing, on November 25th via Ra-Ra Rok Records, Dead Follows on from the acclaimed Animalia single, that was released earlier this year via Corner Shop Pop Records, and it arrives in a suspicious haze of mystic fuzz and tangled dirge pop.

The single was recorded at Bernie Tormé’s Barnroom Studio, it appears that the former guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, Gillan and The Bernie Tormé Band, and the Father of Eric and Jimi, has allowed Gang to have free reign with all the weird and wonderful recording equipment that he accumulated over the years. Dead is the first track of this double a side single, it’s a brooding slice of dementia with twisted guitar lines, it’s a track that sounds like the soundtrack to a musical breakdown as someone’s soul is torn apart by their own internal demons. Enough Nothing is the double a side of this release, it carries on in the haunting and creepy vibe that Dead laid down on the flip side.

I can’t think of more appropriate single to be released to accompany the long dark winter months, this is a trip into dark side of the human psyche that makes Dead a hard single to warm to, and I sincerely doubt it’ll be on anyone’s feel good playlist, but what this is a dark slice of macabre post punk inspired dark fuzz that is unlike anything else you’ll hear this year.

Dead can be streamed here and you can order the single from Ra-Ra Rok Records here
