Horn And Hoof Records have released Glue Ear‘s Curl One Out EP, this is a collection of songs that were recorded way back in 2011 that have finally managed to escape from the vault. Curl One Out! is available as a digital download via Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon and all other digital platforms, however two of the tracks are still available on CD via the Punk As Duck compilation. Sadly Glue Ear will not be playing any shows in the near future as the band members have long since gone their separate ways, but Curl One Out! serves as a fitting last will and testament for the band.
The fact that this EP’s seven songs are done and dusted in seventeen minutes tells you something about Curl One Out! The opening track, 120, kicks in at breakneck pace to confirm this is a no frills frantic last stand for Glue Ear. Every track is delivered at full tilt, even the ska tinged Not A Friend gives into Glue Ear‘s tendency to turn everything up to eleven and play everything as fast as possible. Curl One Out! is an EP that follows the in the wake of many lo-fi DIY bands and whilst there’s nothing on this seven track epitaph you haven’t heard before, there’s enough energy and enthusiasm to keep you happy.
Curl One Out! is not an EP that offers subtleties, it’s straight up DIY punk rock that doesn’t pull any of it’s punches, their brand of ska tinged hardcore and punk is something that will appeal to fans of Snuff, The Crash Mats, Acid Drop, Brutal Youth and Skank Agenda, and whilst Glue Ear are currently on hiatus you can check out Tio Rico, where one of their number now resides, until they return to disgrace a stage once more.
