Manchester Punk Festival Releases 37th Compilation
Manchester Punk Festival have released the 37th volume of their compilation series ahead of this year’s festival. Manchester Punk Festival Vol. 37 is…
Discipline - TNS Records
Discipline is a six track EP that combines the might of two of the UK’s hardcore outfits, Pizzatramp and The Domestics, both bands were challenged by TNS Records to take their short fast songs approach to their logical conclusion, the result is that this features a grand total of six songs, three from each band, that are delivered in around two minutes. A seven inch single would have been somewhat wasteful given the brevity of the tracks so TNS Records have issued the Discipline EP on five inch vinyl.
The first side reveals three tracks from The Domestics, Fuckin’ Die, A Quiet Life and Shopping, whilst the b-side features Pizzatramp, their contributions, I Went On A Double Funded Kickstarter Holiday To The United States Of America and All I Brought Back Was This Shitty Fucking Album, I’d Do Normal Things And Have Normal Hobbies Like Normal People But It’s All Just So Fucking Boring and I’ve Got Nearly As Many Holes In My Brain As I’ve Got In My Favorite Socks, gives them the unique accolade of being the first band I’ve encountered where it takes longer to type the song titles, or say them if you’re a bit wasted, than it does to listen to the tracks
In case you hadn’t worked it out Discipline contains six short blasts of intense hardcore that average twenty seconds each, as one of my favourite compilation albums of the 90’s was Short Songs For Short People, an album that featured 101 songs that were delivered in around fifty minutes, I’m rather awestruck by an EP that sneers at that album. To put it into context should the the four minute nuclear warning sound then you could always play the whole thing twice, this is the shortest fastest blast of brutal hardcore you’re going to hear this year, or probably any other year, and for me that’s exactly how hardcore should be.
