Single Review: The Bronsons – Slip In Your Skin

The Bronsons were originally borne of the early eighties, they burnt brightly and built a cult following before going their separate ways in the middle of that decade, and that would be seem to have been their brief entry in the history of the UK music scene. But you can’t keep a good band down and they resurfaced almost three decades later and returned to doing what they do best, playing a loud, driven, fast and relentless combination of pub rock, garage rock and rhythm ‘n blues that was a precursor to the punk scene, now The Bronsons have released their brand new single, Slip In Your Skin.

Since their resurrection The Bronsons have returned to a familiar path of playing hard edged rhythm ‘n blues, but Slip In Your Skin sees the band head off into more garagey territory, which seems appropriate when you consider that The Bronsons new single is dedicated to the memory of the much missed and irreplaceable frontman of The Cramps, Lux Interior. Slip In Your Skin kicks off with the kind of riff that will be instantly recognisable to anyone familiar with the work of The Cramps, the single carries the kind of sleazy garage rock that was present on tracks like I Wanna Get In Your Pants and Can Your Pussy Do The Dog? but with The Bronsons own hard edged rhythm ‘n blues style interwoven into the songs DNA.

Slip In Your Skin follows on from their 2017 single, Girl From Outer Space, and the new material they’ve been releasing indicates that some things do improve with age, as for me this is their strongest release to date. Slip In Your Skin is set to be released today, the 26th January, via Skin Slip Records and The Bronsons will be be playing a release show at an all dayer at London’s New Cross Inn on the 28th January 2018 along with The Go Go Cult, Love Luv, Love Me Tenders, Trash Culture, Kid Slug, The Noir Mates and NoS Trees.
