Spider – Tripwire

Southern California’s Spider released their shredding new single, Tripwire, on May 26th, that provides one minute and twenty seconds of existentialist angst that channeled itself through the band members and their instruments of powerful sonic expression. Like Bad Religion, Spider creates forceful music that makes you feel good about feeling bad as you make ever-shifting sense of the lyrics that are simultaneously precise yet amorphous.

We can all relate to the line: “I reject your request / to lay down and die” and of course: “We’re here for the new extinction / and we steal back time / with new distinction,” and I know what that means to me, but I have no idea what it means to you. Tripwire is well worth your time if you enjoy high-energy punk rock with tight riffs, pummeling drums and bass that resonates in your chest.
