The Frenetics – Grey Veins To The Parking Lot

my CD player for months. Each time I’m able to listen to it all the way through, I have no problem pressing repeat, and I always find myself singing along with certain sections on a couple of songs; and I can’t quite think why.

The best answer there is is their uniqueness. Now, when you hear the term “uniqueness” you normally think about something way out there and new and fresh – The Frenetics aren’t that. Instead, they take everything you know and incorporate it into one musical explosion. Familiar devices and styles flood together making a CD new and yet well listened.

All of this makes them impossible to categorize. The Union press package labels them as pop-punk – but that is a very misleading label to place on the trio. For it is nowhere near to the sound that you normally think of after hearing the term pop-punk. It is more of a folk-punk sound with an indie rock feel to it then anything else. It brings forth images from the sixties and is very appealing without being radio-produced.

Grey Veins To The Parking Lot is unlike any other CD in my collection. It’s catchy, fun, unique and familiar all at the same time. A very distinct indie rock album with roots into punk and folk; it may not release an award-winning single but is still pretty enjoyable and can be listened to a few times over and over again.
