The Hip Priests are simply a phenomenon, with in the region of 30 singles and 4 albums to back it up too. Being a band that have played alongside the Hellacopters is praise enough in my book, but they don’t rest on that very high pedestal, it’s all onwards and upwards for this straight up Rock n Roll band.

Where do we start with this album then, at the beginning of course, although it was tempting to start at the end and then get to the start with the need to start again of course. I know I make things too complicated times, but my point is that this Roden House Blues Album is not that complicated so lets not make it such. From songs that challenge sense of balance as they try to knock you off your feet, ‘Trojan Horseshit’ being a lively culprit, full attack mode Rock n Roll at its best. Then you get the no holds barred guitar led adrenalised revolutionary filled rage machines that are ‘Pissed On Power’, ‘Just To Get By’ and ‘Tiger In My Tank’, these are intersected by the not so high octane sweaty, oh forget that, its all fucking blow your head off Punk Rock with added flamethrower whiskey, how could not get that with something like ‘Sell Your Soul’ or the equally incendiary ‘Persistance Is Futile’.
All of the music on this album was born out of the realisation that the world would not be better off without this band, that living through a pandemic and feeling that the world was falling into a sink hole was the spark that rekindled the fire, you feel that throughout and it also gives you a reason to scream at the walls again!
Should we be happy that The Hip Priest didn’t give up as they did consider, hell yeah of course we should be, this is straight out of the mosh pit, sweaty slab of energy. No point in writing shed loads of meaningless words about this album, just get your fix of full tilt Punk Rock n Roll and enjoy it.
