The Jackets

Intuition - Chaputa Records

The Jackets are a Swiss garage rock trio that know how to roll (some might get that lazy pun), and they are back after a five year gap with this the bands fifth full length, and its explosive, the raw power hasn’t gone anywhere, but its been infused with some extra creative juice. Intuition is the name and it’s a word that’s central to the whole feel of this ten track belter. It’s music that has more than just an emotional connection, it’s music that lives and thrives on more than a simple need to entertain, this is an album of musical intent that wants to give shape to the way you see the world too.

‘Crossing Streets’ is the first moment to be heard, a dramatic and slightly sinister scene within the heart of this mismatch of scenes, songs that have a theme running through them, but nothing that’s wanting to glue them together, they all have a life of there own. ‘Gambling Town’ for example gives off an air of getting lost in your own self indulgence, with a multitude of possibilities and outcomes, all smothered in a wonderfully melodic garage-rock overcoat. Then you get to the totally unadulterated slice of Rock n Roll that is ‘Can’t Take It Back’, an early Courettes sounding acid drop of a song. ‘I Tried’ then drops its ridiculously sick beats and riffs at you, with its 60’s back street club vibe at full throttle. The title track, slides in with hints of 70’s glam guitar riffs, and its own sense of dance floor rhythm, a psychedelic monster under the bed tune.

This is the point were I sum up or give you some other moments in the album to listen out for, but honestly, this album just deserves to be listened to rather than talked about. So get out and do what I’ve just said, go listen to this high-energy from the gut explosive Rock N Roll, and go dance just like it makes you wanna.
