Here We Go - Aggravated Music
“Hey Mcfaddens! Look out boys, it’s mine!” The first lyrics that come flowing through your speakers as Here We Go by The Mcfaddens starts playing, really give you an idea of what to expect from the 13 track album. Punk rock at it’s roots. Snotty, fast paced vocals with basic guitar melodies making a great old fashioned punk rock sound.
The four piece band from Nova Scotia saves you from the never ending pit of “pop-punk” by bringing you something harsher, not polished; something grungier, not smoother and just something overly more original, not the same boring sound once again. Fast paced songs about immature things like family vacations, family therapy, Chinese food, girls, pissing off tenants and just plain rebelling is what you find on Here We Go; so if you are in search of something meaningful and heart-moving, the The Mcfaddens are not for you. They are for the immature soul, the child inside us all.
With a grand total of 13 tracks on the album, you may get the impression that the album would be of a fairly decent length, but in reality, the album is quite short. Each song is less then two minutes long, and the full CD lasts less then 18 minutes. This is a slight disappointment as there’s not a lot on it, but then again, if the album was much longer then it might become overwhelming and slightly repetitive; so stopping short at thirteen tracks is a good choice by the band. And plus, for only six dollars, it’s well worth it.
