Today Forever

The New Pathetic - Strike First Records

I’ve been having some difficulty sitting down and listening to this album. It’s not that bad, it’s just that like many other cd’s I have to sit through, while I’m listening I begin thinking to myself how much I’d rather be listening to something else. Not to mention that the first song really didn’t hook me, and since I have the attention span of a toddler, it’s taken me several attempts to even get this far reviewing this cd. For the most part this band keeps a pretty quick pace. They play fast guitar riffs and bass lines and the drummer lays down some double kick beats the I find myself tapping out with my fingers on desks and tables. But they go into some pretty slow breakdowns at least once per song, I didn’t really enjoy that. The vocals aren’t as heavy as I would have expected if I would have been exposed to just instrumental tracks to begin with. But their music is just generally failing at hold my attention. Already I’ve taken a break from listening to them and switched to listen to Ignite before I turn it back on.

This album isn’t that bad though, and I’m sure many people would and will enjoy this cd. But as for me, I’ll probably end up listening to the odd song here and there when my mp3 player’s on shuffle, but I doubt I’ll intentionally listen to them very much. Who knows though, the cd could grow on me, it just doesn’t seem to be doing the trick at the moment. You can most likely find a few songs by them on the internet, I’m sure they’re on myspace, almost every band is on myspace… stupid myspace.
