Trashed Ambulance

Future Considerations - Thousand Island Records

Trashed Ambulance have certainly moved on since their debut album ‘Blurry Thoughts’ back in 2016, this latest offering ‘Future Considerations’ might have a title that bears in mind that getting older can, warp, slow or even blow your heady younger days right out of the water, or is that just myself ponder old age, after all these guys have too many years on myself than I care to count.  Anyway I move on and forwards, with a feeling of hope that I can explain my last paragraph in some kind of coherent detail, or not as is normally the case.  Having only a passing acquaintance with this band (a few tracks here and there, maybe an album listen that never stuck), I am happy to report that with the addition of some pretty hefty collaborators on this release, which include Robbie Morön (The Moröns), Chris Kreuger (Bring On The Storm), Alex Goldfarb (Debt Neglector) and Émilie Plamondon, I’m fully on track now to give them the time and ears they deserve.

So as reported earlier, only having a snippet of knowledge of the band and their music, one thing that immediately stands out here is a kind of classic pop/punk feel that somehow has a little more class to it than other stuff I’ve heard from them, although I would not for one second say I’m an authority on Trashed Ambulance, so don’t shoot me, unless it a paint gun (now that’s fun), there I go again rambling off into a world away from this great album, yes I’ve probably given the game away too early again, but yes it’s pretty damn good ok.

’56’ sets us off here, its fucking Screeching Weasel with attitude and that’s saying something, ‘Menace’ come in next and this is where you get the 1st hint of pretty damn slick production, musically with its Ska beat your always bouncing, but it still holds on to the punk angst within its lyrics.

Speed is always of the essence with this band, everything seems to have to be 100 miles an hour, ‘Ecnalubma’ simply burns through your head like an Ambulance on nitro, and yes it took me 30 seconds or so to realise what this song title was (age and beer does rot the brain you know).

Before you know it your now a third of the way through the album and here comes the song of the album ‘Stalk In The Park’ a social commentary song that you can make your own mind up about, but its set up so well like a play within a song, featuring Robbie Möron and Èmilie Plamondon.

‘Bottleneck’ next up, has a riff intro to die for, ‘Gumshoes’ throws drum beats at you like bullets at a melon and features possibly the only sing a long chorus on the album (being only one chorus long, nearly).

By now you might have gotten the idea that your not going gonna need to set aside very long for this album, about the same time it takes to order and receive your pizza maybe, but worth every minute of your time and the there’s that added bonus of pizza at the end.

‘Melting Pot’ gets us well over half way through (well near the end actually), it has what reminds me of an Against Me killer melody, but played 1000x faster (really!), then after a few more brilliant and yes worth talking about tracks, but I’m not gonna bore you with all that shit, your at the end!, your worn out and now its PIZZA time too, win win my friends.

Classy pop/punk that does exactly what it says on the tin and much fucking more.

P.S. I lied when said I wasn’t going to bore you with more words, I just had to fit in the ‘Next Door to Nothing’ is the last  track and it’s mind a mind-blowing 5 mins pus long, but it totally kicks Ass!, here we go again, another top class punk album, proving the world needs bands like Trashed Ecnalubma.

Head on over to Thousand Island Records and bag yourself a copy (its out now, we nearly missed the boat there ppl, sorry).

Or if you can’t wait, its on all those streaming platforms HERE
