Oxygen Thief Share “Instrumentals Do Not Happen, They Are Caused” Mini Album
Oxygen Thief are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the band's first mini album, Accidents Do Not Happen, They Are Caused,…
Sports Day / Ugly Children - Own It Records
UHR is a band that got together pre pandemic and had started to rack up some accomplished sold out live shows supporting Dead Objectives, Girls in Synthesis and The Chats in their hometown of Manchester, UK. The band is comprised of Jack Harkins (Blanketman / Common Cold), John Harkins (Things in General) and David Chambers (Cornershop / Formula One / Common Cold) and they are becoming a must-see trio in the Manchester music scene.
Their music is often compared to The Fall or Gang of Four and while you may hear similarities, this single, that was written in 2019, is certainly as good as Rowche Rumble or Damaged Goods that the aforementioned bands released. Sports Day shows off the taut rhythms and cheese wire guitar riffs under a tour-de-force of off kilter chants. Sports Day / Ugly Children sees the guys teaming up with John Linger of Girls in Synthesis and Matthew Gallagher, to record another slice of solidly fluid surrealist punk rock.
“Dance first. Think later. It’s the natural order.” I couldn’t agree more.
Sports Day is now available via streaming platforms and Bandcamp with Ugly Children following hot on it’s heels on the 8th July. Live photography courtesy of Shot From Both Sides
