A Near Fatal Fall - Tooth & Nail Records / Solid State Records

Tooth & Nail Records is always able to please me with their compilations. Each compilation they have always succeeds in being played over and over again as they provide a well rounded selection of songs every time. So when I saw that they were releasing a new one at Hot Topics called A Near Fatal Fall, I felt compelled to listened to this one too.

Sure enough, it didn’t disappoint either. Once again Tooth & Nail Records have provided their loyal listeners with a solid compilations from 19 artists on their roster as well as Solid State Records (T&N’s sister label). Of course, if you own many of Tooth And Nail‘s releases from the past year or so, then it’s more then likely that you’ve heard most of these songs before, as there is only one unreleased song (Emery‘s To Whom It May Concern ends the album); but even so, the songs are entertaining enough to be heard again.

Like the T&N roster, A Near Fatal Fall features a wide variety of sounds and styles. There’s some hardcore with bands like Demon Hunter, Project 86, Norma Jean, Underoath and Haste The Day. Then there is some pop punk with bands like Hawk Wilson, Thousand Foot Krutch, FM Static, Watashi Wa and Slow Coming Day. Of course, a few emo bands like Emery, Further Seems Forever, and Mae make an appearance too! But even with these ever constant changes in style and tone, A Near Fall flows flawlessly and smoothly. They seem to fit together.

Basically, if you like any of the other Tooth And Nail compilations, then you will like this. There’s not much new on it, but it is still a good listen – and if you have missed the releases from the past year from this ever growing label, then this will definitely help you catch up. And twenty songs for five bucks, well you can’t get much better then that!
