Rock Against Floyd - Fat Wreck Chords
Now, this review is probably a little too late in coming. I’m sorry, I was a little busy. Because you see, this compilation is part of what makes Warped Tour so good: it’s free! If you went to the Fat Wreck Chords tent during the tour, then I’m sure you would’ve picked up a copy of this and are rocking out to it right now and if you didn’t, well then your missing out and hopefully the nice people at Fat will be giving this out on their Fat Tour 2005. Because, for any Fat fan, this compilation is heaven.
Like all of Fat‘s free comps, it makes fun of a popular recent release, this year’s victim is the label’s own compilation, Rock Against Bush series. It is now Rock Against Floyd and features a funny picture of the Fat‘s spokesman that just makes you laugh a little bit. But who cares about the artwork, let’s talk about the music.
It kicks off with a new song from the folk punks Against Me!. Problems comes from their new CD, Searching For A Former Clarity, and makes it look as if the CD will be a good one. That’s not the only preview they give you either. There’s also Rise Against‘s Everchanging, from the re-released version of The Unraveling and a brand new song from Western Addiction cleverly titled The Church Of Black Flag.
Along with the previews, they also have a bunch of tracks from the label’s recent releases, including The Epoxies, Smoke Or Fire, No Use For A Name and Chixdiggit!.NOFX also gave Getting High On The Down Low from their 7 inch of the month club and The Real McKenzies gave Smokin’ Bowl, the opener to their new album 10,000 Shots to the mix as well.
In reality, whenever you get anything for free, its a bonus and you can’t complain. But when its as good as this compilation is, then it’s even better. If you’re a Fat Wreck Chords fan, then nothing will beat this compilation. So hopefully, you can get it at the Fat Tour 2005.
