Following a string of acclaimed singles and the arrival of a revitalised line-up, Sweden’s Åskväder have unveiled Wax, their third full length album that is now available via Icons Creating Evil Art. Marking the beginning of a new chapter with Saga Flygare Täll joining as lead vocalist and guitarist, Wax captures a band at full strength. Across eleven tracks, Åskväder sharpen every element that has made them one of Sweden’s most exciting modern rock acts, blues-soaked riffs, infectious melodies, raw Scandinavian energy and a live intensity that refuses to let up. Built over months of writing, rehearsing and recording, Wax is both a reinvention and a reaffirmation. While embracing a heavier, more dynamic sound, the album never loses sight of the band’s gift for memorable hooks and timeless songwriting.

The journey began with Farewell, introducing fans to Åskväder‘s new era with a powerful statement of intent. It is followed by the riff-driven Salt, the soaring Aim High, and the anthemic On The Fence, each revealing another side of an album that confidently moves between hard-hitting rockers, melodic standouts and emotional climaxes. From the punk-inspired urgency of Frontier to the emotional weight of the title track, Wax constantly balances melody and muscle. Rooted in the Swedish west coast rock scene, Åskväder have built their reputation through explosive live performances and music that draws on hard rock, punk urgency and Scandinavian rock’n’roll. Åskväder have steadily built a reputation through explosive live performances and a sound rooted in the Scandinavian rock explosion of the 1990s.

“Wax is the album we’ve always wanted to make, Every song has its own personality, but together they tell the story of where Åskväder is today. We’ve pushed ourselves harder than ever, and having Saga join the band brought a completely new energy to both the songwriting and the recordings.”
