Cat Valley are a garage punk band out of Bellingham, WA, made up of four unapologetic feminists known for rousing energy, intricate vocal harmonies, dueling reverb-drenched lead guitars and scathing observations of a world gone mad. Returning on the heels of their 2021 EP, Feral, a 7-song record laced with elements of 90’s alt-rock and soaring, surf-pop vocal harmonies, Cat Valley hits a fresh sonic stride.

Today sees the release of the Bingo Queen EP that digs into hardcore punk’s distorted guitars, bellowing vocals and driving tempos, as it rages in the face of political oppression and explores themes of trauma, aging and self-love. As it triumphantly releases old hurts, celebrates the self, and stands up for emotional and physical autonomy with blistering grit.

Bingo Queen was created gradually over the last two years, as Whitney Flinn and Abby Hegge, who first met in their early twenties, grappled with the life changes that have come with getting older. The title track in particular pokes fun at their newfound identities as sober, in-bed-by-ten thirty-somethings, reflected in the lyric “too old for drugs, too young for retirement.” Tracks like self-loving Mean Girls, and patriarchy-bashing Not Me, embrace the greatest gifts of getting older, a strong sense of self and a take-no-shit attitude!
