Massachusettes hardcore group Defeater has announced details regarding their next studio album. Titled Empty Days & Sleepless Nights, the release will serve as their next full length and a double LP, and is set sofr a March 8, 2011 release on Bridge Nine Records. The first disk includes a total of ten plugged in and loud tracks, with the second disc finding the band exploring their acoustic side for an additional four songs. Guitarist Jay Maas explains the acoustic focus:
“This new album was a very natural progression for us. We’d cut our teeth on an acoustic track on Travels (“Prophet in Plain Clothes”) which is one of the most well-received songs we play live. And Derek (Defeater’s vocalist) had written some lyrics that worked beautifully against an acoustic canvas so we decided to follow the heavier tracks on this new album up with these songs, resulting in a double LP release.”
The album follows the story of a post-WWII originally established in Defeater’s critically acclaimed 2008 release, Travels. Two of the songs can be heard on the band’s recent Dear Father 7″. A full track listing can be found below.
