Today Manchester, UK duo Dirty Blonde have released their new single, Northern Twang, that is accompanied by a music video showing off the band’s strong aesthetic of leopard print, red lipstick and leather jackets galore. Northern Twang marks a bold return for the duo, offering a dark and seductive style that pushes the boundaries of their gritty sound, capturing the dangerous allure of infatuation and blending husky vocals with shimmering guitar riffs. The song explores the feeling of losing control when you’re under someone’s spell while still being painfully aware of it. This tension highlights the need to vent to friends and reflects the frustration of being trapped in a tormenting love you can’t escape.
“This was the first Dirty Blonde song we ever wrote. It’s about those early relationships where, even though you know things aren’t right, you convince yourself otherwise because you’re so into the person. It’s all about overlooking red flags just because someone’s fit. We wanted to capture that reckless, intoxicating feeling of obsession, but also the moments when you’re fully aware it’s happening and can’t stop yourself from ranting about it.”
Dirty Blonde will be appearing at Sunderland’s Waves Festival on the 16th November and at Swansea’s The Bunkhouse on the 28th November, the band have also announced a run of 2025 dates with Lizzie Esau that kick off on the 28th January at Huddersfield’s Northern Quarter.
