Erotic Secrets of Pompeii Unveil New Single “Truth Coming Out Of Her Well’

Erotic Secrets of Pompeii make weird, angular art rock-cum-post-punk, populated by grotesque characters and surreal imagery. The band formed in Bristol in mid-2018, they released their debut album, Witness in the House of Pox, shortly thereafter. Following a significant line-up change in 2020, they dropped a slew of sinister singles throughout the year, which continue across 2021. Truth Coming Out Of Her Well is their latest hook-laden offering, the song explores subjectivity, rumours and fervent, polarising beliefs. Featuring irreverent town hall cryer vocals and insectoid guitars that buzz and jitter around a dub-esque bassline and circus drumbeat.

Truth Coming Out Of Her Well is a strange, wonky song, one that the band describes as “Zappa does Britpop”, that is reminiscent of the nervous energy of New Wave acts such as Devo and XTC, if slightly corrupted by the deranged eccentricities of top-tier freaks such as Primus and Captain Beefheart. An accompanying music video for Truth Coming Out Of Her Well, which has been described as “Monty Python in Hell”, will be revealed on the 5th November.
