Tornado Lobster Killer Reveal New Album “Lobsteria’
Milan's Tornado Lobster Killer have released Lobsteria, a record that transforms uncertainty, frustration, and personal upheaval into something urgent, honest, and cathartic. The…
We are very excited to be premiering Southside Poverty, a track from Kentucky punks Teenage Rehab ahead of the release of their upcoming 7″ Break Yourself next month. Drummer Alex Reject also spoke to us about the inspiration behind the song, the recording process and their new EP:
As far as drumming goes I’d never recorded a tune like this before, all our stuff has been pretty straight forward on the past records. It was definitely cool to do some different stuff with the reggae elements. Our producer Shelby Preklas really nailed the drum sound, they sound full of life , plus, Loud & Clear Studio has a great vibe and I think it comes through in the recording.
[In terms of inspiration]…We’d been listening to alot of “London Calling” & “Give ‘Em Enough Rope” by The Clash on our last tour . I know that the song “Train In Vain” kept us from killing each other on the road several times haha. When someone uses your soap, farts on your pillow or steps on a sandwich you bought with your last $2 just throw that song on and it’ll surely save the day. We’ve always toyed around with our Ramones, Black Flag, Angry Samoans type of influences so when Dannybrought this kinda ska/reggae riff to rehearsal we we’re having alot of fun with it and it just worked right off. We’re really into Bob Marley, The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, Rancid etc. so it was only a matter of time before those influences showed up in our songwriting.
[And on the Break Yourself EP]…Break Yourself is kinda a new step for us since we’re running the Revert Records label and coordinating the pressing of the vinyl, the printing of the sleeves, making all the phone calls and sending all the e-mails for everything. I’m happy to be doing it completely DIY this time around because we’re not doing this for a living, we’re doing this for fun and because we wanna write songs and play shows until we do different flavors of what Teenage Rehab does. Half of it is aggressive and the other half is fun, its honestly a damn good extension of ourselves.
Break Yourself is out on December 16th via Revert Records and check out the Exclusive Stream of Southside Poverty below.
