Los Angeles’ Celtic punk band Flogging Molly have unveiled details regarding their highly anticipated fifth studio album. Dubbed Speed of Darkness, the album will be released on May 31st through their newly founded record label Borstal Beat Records.
Speed of Darkness was written in Detroit, MI and takes a hardnosed look at the economic collapse in the US: the causes and the direct effect it has had on everyday people. The Motor City serves as the album’s muse and one of the biggest examples of what has gone wrong. Front man Dave King said:
“It wasn’t the album we set out to write. It became the album we had to write.”
The album, produced by Ryan Hewitt (Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Avett Brothers), is said to attach the greed and ignorance responsible for the economic collapse while also delivering a message of hope, humanity and the resilience of mankind. The track listing and artwork can be found below.
