Glasgow’s Oh, Rain Reveal “Fake Nice” & Announce Debut EP “Awful Things”

Rising from the gloom of the pandemic, Scottish punk band Oh, Rain has emerged victorious, defying the odds to deliver their first single, Fake Nice, from their long-awaited debut EP, Awful Things, that will be released on September 8th. Fake Nice is an ode on how maintaining self-loathing is much harder than actually getting help and choosing to grapple with your own flaws and shortcomings, it is the most direct statement the band have yet made.

Commencing their work on the EP just before the pandemic’s grip tightened, Oh, Rain encountered numerous transformations of their songs as they honed their distinctive sound. The band’s music encapsulates a captivating blend of power and introspection, fusing the unbridled energy of punk with the sombre reflection of emo, combined with thought-provoking lyricism.

Drawing inspiration from punk luminaries such as Hot Water Music, The Menzingers, and The Gaslight Anthem, but splicing the with the guitar antics of Gary Moore and Guthrie Govan, oh, rain transcends mere imitation, crafting a a sound that resonates with raw emotion and authentic vulnerability. Their unique amalgamation of influences has solidified their status as a force to be reckoned with in the Glasgow music scene.
