“Pop punk rapper” Hollow River (multi-instrumentalist Mark MacDonald) has released his new single and video, Loved Me Like A Book, that will appear on his upcoming We’re Going To Be OK EP that is due out in October. The former Berklee College of Music student dropped out with one semester left to pursue their career full-time.

“Sometimes there is confusion on whether or not Hollow River is a band, to which I say “Hollow River is not a band — but I have a band and they are great. (“Loved Me Like A Book”) is about how people become a mosaic of the things they have experienced and the people they have loved and how it hurts to see yourself becoming a smaller part of someone you love and vice versa. The video was recorded DIY at my studio in my parents garage in Canada.”

Hollow River will celebrate the release of the single with a full band set at Fredericksburg, VA’s KC’s Music Alley at Central Station on September 22nd. MacDonald will also return as musical director for the Berklee Music of Mass Incarceration concert on October 12th. The event is in support of ending mass incarceration in the United States and offers support to survivors of the criminal justice system, through causes like New Beginnings, the first re-entry program for formerly incarcerated women in Massachusetts.
