Southern California genre-benders Integra Pink have returned with their new single, Pink Nokia, that is out now via Futureless Records. Built around the push and pull between two people who communicate, and connect, in very different ways, the track filters modern relationship dynamics through the colorful, highly personalized cellphone culture of the early 2000s. Following a run of releases that has continued to expand the boundaries of the band’s sound, Pink Nokia finds Integra Pink turning their attention toward communication itself: the frustration of feeling misunderstood, the ways people express closeness differently, and what happens when two opposing attachment styles collide.

“I think Pink Nokia is a song about two people with opposing attachment styles and how that dynamic works. I know it can be frustrating for both parties when they feel as though they’re not being understood or their attachment styles are being ignored. I don’t think one style is more right than the other, but at the end of it all, a conversation always ends up fixing those feelings. I tried to explore that idea through the lens of the early 2000s cellphone culture that was just coming in, before everyone had iPhones. Everyone had their own unique phone that would, in some way, show off their personalities. And even though no two phones looked alike, they all served the same function, to communicate.” (vocalist Leo Mendez)
