James Domestic Reveals New Single & Video “Push On Through”

Push On Through is the second single from James Domestic‘s forthcoming solo album, Carrion Repeating. The freshly released track sees him build an epic pop song around a hypnotically repetitive bassline, one that’s sprinkled with raw post-punk guitars and organ melody. Push On Through also features the additional vocals of Clare Gillett that provide a smooth counterpoint to Domestic’s rough London tones.

Having played in bands for a decade, most notably The Domestics, but also PI$$ER, Tokyo Lungs, and half a dozen others, the lyric is inspired by long night-time drives, when you’re desperately trying to stay awake, reach your destination in good time, but also stay alive! Anyone that regularly drives long distances in the early hours will feel an affinity for the lyric.

James Domestic nestles in that nook of singular British pop music where Madness, Ian Dury, The Fall, Roots Manuva, Billy Childish and Sleaford Mods reside. Throw in some King Tubby, Can and ESG, and you probably have your nose pressed against the right window. The Carrion Repeating album is set to be released on vinyl and digital formats in April 2022 via Kibou Records and TNSrecords in the UK and Amok Records in Germany.

It’s very different from the first single, so this might be even more of a shock to people than Faze Out was!” chuckles Domestic. “I’ve been touring in The Domestics for years, so eventually some of the sights you see driving through the night are going to seep into a song, right?” Asked if it’s inevitable that musicians would eventually end up writing about being on the road, Domestic scoffs, “Nah, it’s not like that; I’m not Bon Jovi riding on a steel horse or whatever.  I can’t think of anything more tedious!”
