Manchester indie punks Loose Articles have returned with their new single, Sinead Loves Bitcoin, that is out now via Alcopop! Records. The quartet have also announced a string of UK festival appearances including Long Division Festival, 2000 Trees Festival, and Rebellion Festival, as well as a run of EU tour dates supporting LA punk/funk quintet Thumpasaurus. The band have also launched a spoof NFT scheme to accompany the track, alongside Sinead’s Bitcoin Fund, which will offer fans the ability to donate money to the band to unlock perks. Tiers range from £0–20+ and include incentives like a specially recorded B-side short story, a cassette tape of the release, a Loose Articles shirt and more special gifts to be confirmed.

“The song is about our pal and local legend Sinead Ferguson, who’s a band photographer. She had her instagram account hijacked by Bitcoin hackers who were posing as her and trying to sell everyone Bitcoin for £10,000. For a split second everyone thought Sinead was a Bitcoin dealer, so we turned it into a song where she was stealing your wifi and hacking your social media accounts to sell Bitcoin.”

The quartet have also had a line up reshuffle since the release of their 2022 Chaos EP, with occasional stand-in Abbi Phillips (She Drew The Gun / PINS) taking over from the band’s original drummer, Louise Rivett, who now moves up front to start the party on keys and percussion. Loose Articles recently embarked on their Kick Like A Girl headline tour, which was funded by the Arts Council England. They offered intimate access and entry-level insights into the music venue to young women from underrepresented backgrounds, all whilst supporting grassroots venues and northern creatives.
