Public Opinion have released their new EP, Modern Convenience, that is out now via Convulse Records. The Denver-by-way-of-Seattle-based group make razor sharp songs that traffic in equal parts melody and bite, and the five tracks on Modern Convenience make for an instantly appealing introduction. The EP blends the energy and aggression of hardcore with the overt hooks and swagger of garage rock, as evidenced on standout track, Fixated, which features guest vocals from Militarie Gun & Regional Justice Center frontman, Ian Shelton, who co-produced the EP along with engineer Phil Odom.

Modern Convenience combines primal first wave punk with a sense of unabashed catchiness and ends up sounding like the work of a guitar pop band that plays with uncharacteristic ferocity, or perhaps a hardcore band that just can’t help but write pop songs. Lyrically, Hart explores the endless discord that permeates our everyday lives, particularly with the stressors of the internet so readily available at any moment. The result is a taut 12 minutes of electrifying music that pulls no punches without sacrificing the fun.

Public Opinion have just finished a run of Midwest tour dates in support of Modern Convenience, they will be opening for Fiddlehead in Denver later this month and are then heading to the West Coast in June. Modern Convenience can be streamed and purchased via Bandcamp and the EP is available le for pre-order on vinyl via Convulse Records.
