Social Distortion have shared The Way Things Were, the final preview of their long-awaited eighth album, Born To Kill, that is due out on the 8th May via Epitaph Records. On The Way Things Were, Social Distortion look back without losing momentum, as Mike Ness revisits his hell-raising Fullerton youth. It’s a bruised, nostalgic anthem in the vein of classics such as Story of My Life and I Was Wrong that distils the Social Distortion ethos.

Born To Kill is more than the conclusion to a 15-year wait between Social Distortion albums, it’s a revelation: eleven songs of pure, unadulterated rock fury, joy and catharsis, all imbued with the signature blend of defiance and world-weariness that has made Mike Ness a poet and sage to the dispossessed for more than 40 years.

Social Distortion will support Born To Kill with an extensive European tour this Summer, including two UK dates at Download Festival and London’s Koko. The tour will also cover Norway, Sweden, Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, and Benelux. North American dates will follow later in the Summer & Fall, which will feature support from Descendents and The Chats
